Built in the 16th century, The Folly benefits from recent renovations and interior design by acclaimed design group Matrushka. Each room has been finished to an exceptionally high standard with modern and elegant fittings, including stone flooring, open fire places, an Aga and lovingly curated objets d’artes. The accommodation is arranged over three floors, offering light and well appointed living space whilst retaining a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The house is approached through an impressive gated entrance onto the gravelled driveway. The rear of the house is surrounded by landscaped gardens and private terrace, the perfect space for outside entertaining. There is a detached, self-contained studio offering further accommodation or workspace, looking out onto the hard tennis court and across the paddock, with a magnificent walnut tree.

The accommodation is arranged as follows:

VESTIBULE
The entrance lobby features library shelves with a rolling ladder and a wealth of books for you to peruse at your leisure. The warmth of the wood burning stove makes this room a special space to sit and relax after country walks.

THE SALON
The more formal living space boasts a huge, open stone fire, Chesterfield, abundant seating and is perfect for pre-dinner drinks, post-dinner games or afternoon reading.

THE SNUG
The snug is the place to sink into the comfy corner sofa and put your feet up on the vintage Kilim, browse the DVD library, watch Sky TV, or simply listen to music or the radio. The 50″ plasma TV with surround sound gives the ultimate movie experience.

KITCHEN DINING ROOM
This country-chic Aga kitchen offers a spacious cooking and entertaining space. An island butcher’s block with stools works as a table to have tea and cake around in the afternoon, or there is a farmhouse table that comfortably seats ten in the dining area. The cupboards are stocked with quality staples and we offer bespoke extras, from birthday cakes, to picnic hampers, or dinner party catering.

GARDEN STUDIO
The studio is a separate building, which has two main rooms: a large office space with toilet facilities, and an extra room (which could sleep a further two people on request). Views are onto the gardens at the front of the house. Perfect for quiet working, an additional sleeping space or a creative workshop meeting.

LA REINE SUITE
Nestled in the wooden eaves at the top of the house, the stairs ascend into a private seating space, with writing bureau and wardrobes. An architrave leads onto regal sleeping quarters, with a king size bed, chandelier, plush armchair, French window shutters, and views onto the open rural landscape. The suite includes a stunning private bathroom, with velvet ottoman, copper bath and shower.

BEAUFORT SUITE
Featuring a king size bed with sumptuous throw, the suite has an equestrian feel and includes extensive en suite bath and dressing room, including shower facilities, double basin and wardrobes. The unique luxury of this bedroom is the delightful sun terrace that French doors open out onto.

DOROTHY BEDROOM
The Dorothy Room has a rustic yet luxurious, Provencale feel to it, with a king size bed and a plump chesterfield for reading. There is a freestanding, Victorian style washbasin, exposed wooden ceiling beams and white French window shutters. Views are onto the pretty front lawn and tennis court.

TOAD BEDROOM
The Toad Room is a cosy and playful room designed for children but, as it contains a double bed, it is equally suitable for adults.

Guest Book
"Oh, to be able to bring it home...Folly you have captured my heart."
Ted D - Author, artist, inventor, Oxford

"The folly is a delicious retreat! A place of sanctuary - but without the privation.
We relaxed and were productive; worked and were yet refreshed.
Delightful..."
Mikael S - Film & TV writer/producer, London

"It was such a treat to see the children racing around in the garden in that glorious sunshine and for us all to spend time together in such a relaxing, beautiful environment. You’ve created a luxurious, tranquil and energising haven and we all felt very lucky to have been able to enjoy it. I even played tennis for the first time in about 12 years – it was fabulous."
Lucy M - TV Producer, London

"We arrived to a winter wonderland, just after Christmas, with eight friends and loads of time and space to chill out and have fun. We took snowy walks then came back to The Folly for log fires, movies, back gammon and mulled wine. It was totally idyllic and having the roll top bath to soak in was sheer indulgence. We cooked, laughed, drank, and swing-danced. It was a magical start to the year..."
Katja - Film-maker, Newcastle Upon Tyne

"The house is superbly warm, comfortable and inviting. It is also extremely well kitted out, eg in the kitchen, and we appreciated the extensive selection of books and DVDs on offer, the lovely candles and all the little extras which combined do really make a stay in the house rather special. We particularly loved the gorgeous decor! Despite being quite luxurious the house is not precious and we felt very comfortable letting our children run around. The tennis court was well used by our boys!"
